The first ground-based solar power plant in the department of Ain
The solar power plant of Villebois was commissioned on 26 April 2019. Imagine 6,900 solar panels deployed over 3.6 hectares of land, capturing the very essence of sunlight. Its total capacity is 3 MWp, i.e. 3.9 GWh/year, which supplies about 1,600 inhabitants with electricity, more than the population of the commune. In this green haven, what makes the site original are 36 sheep that carry out pastoral maintenance.

Your safety is our priority
- All adult visitors must show proof of identity (valid identity card or passport, or French driving licence provided that the photograph resembles the holder).
- Group limited to 30 people with the obligatory presence of 2 accompanying persons (limited to the pedagogical team).
- A list of pupils and accompanying persons must be communicated before the visit; access to the site is forbidden to persons not on the list.
- Any action contrary to or not in compliance with the safety rules during the visit will lead to the immediate halting of the visit and the evacuation of the group outside the CNR site.

Please note:
Visits can be suspended without notice for reasons of public order by demand of the authorities. This may also be the case of major maintenance works or due to force majeure. Access to the sites is not allowed in the case of heat waves, rain, storms and violent wind.

From Villebois, take the D19 direction Sault-Brénaz. Turn left on the road of the dam of Sault-Brénaz. Take the first left before the dam.
Meet in front of the photovoltaic park gate, next to the waste disposal center.
Practical information
- You must wear trousers and trainers or hiking shoes. If not, you will not be allowed to enter the site.
- Do not use your cell phones, laptop computers, cameras, dictaphones or any electronic devices. They are prohibited during the visit.
